6-year old's intrusive search on 'Good Morning America'

Here's the interview with the girl's parents. The anchor's comments are terrible, and I couldn't help feeling that these poor parents were holding back on fully expressing their real feelings on the matter.

UPDATE: It's official - American media has picked up the story and I am now seeing coverage in many places.

  1. I'm surprised that Dr. and Mrs. Drexel (emphasis on DOCTOR) are so blasé about having their children irradiated. Offering to send the child thru again? Not only have our rights been brainwashed out of us, we think if the TSA and Michael Chertoff, a former government official now selling these scanners, say it's safe, it must be.

There is NO amount of radiation that is safe and everyone on the planet should know this.

  2. @Sally - While I am concerned about the safety of the scanners, my primary reason for not liking them is that it's an unjust invasion of my privacy. It's clear to me that the mom here felt that she was being coerced into having her child groped. Perhaps she felt that the scanner would be less traumatic for her daughter - I agree that it would be - and that would be worth whatever effects might occur from the scanners.

In any case, the problem is that this is a choice between two very bad options, and no parent should be subjected to this dilemma. It's why I don't fly anymore, and I suspect the Drexels will be driving a lot more than they used to!
