KnownCrew is the new Crew Pass
Pilots will soon be exempt from invasive screening if they have proper identification in yet another trial of a TSA program. This, of course, makes sense so it is no surprise that after a decade the idiotic TSA has yet to figure out how to get airline crew to their planes quickly and without humiliation. My worry still remains that once the crew is a privileged class, they will cease to be a sympathetic group to the indignities suffered by passengers.

This only affects crews that will either be working the flight or needing to catch a flight in order to get to work. Off-duty flight crew members and other airline employees (ticket agents, baggage workers, management, etc) will still be subject to the invasive searches - so, to an extent airline employees will still remain "sympathetic" to travelers.
ReplyDelete@Darryl - Thanks for the clarification. So that would mean nothing would have changed for Michael Roberts? I'll have to see if he's written about this recently.
ReplyDelete@Kathryn - I believe Mr. Roberts was flying as a "dead-head" crew member, meaning he had to catch the flight in order to work a flight.
ReplyDeleteBased on my reading of the article, I'm not sure if anything would have changed for Michael Roberts or not.
